Who We Are & What We Stand For

At the core of the Crescenta Valley Substance Misuse Prevention Coalition, CV Cares, is a dedicated network of educators, parents, health professionals, and community members united by a shared purpose: preventing substance misuse and building a healthier future. Our mission is to protect youth through education, community mobilization, and support — driving real and meaningful change toward a drug-free, wellness-centered Crescenta Valley. Discover our vision and the comprehensive strategies we are using to achieve lasting community wellness.

Programs & Initiatives

  • High school student leaders are trained to educate their peers, organize awareness campaigns, and promote healthy choices through monthly initiatives and community events.

  • An free annual event bringing together mental health and substance misuse resources, support services, and educational workshops. Our most recent fair took place on May 10, 2025, drawing hundreds of participants.

  • Expert-led talks that address mental health, substance misuse, harm reduction, and prevention strategies. Past speakers have included Carmela Tunzi, Kristen Gilliland, and Annie Varvaryan and Jamie Given.

  • We have distributed over 500 Narcan kits and provided life-saving overdose response training to more than 200 community members — helping to reduce harm and save lives. Our next shipment of free kits will be available after June 23rd.

Our programs take a comprehensive, community-based approach to substance misuse prevention — empowering youth, educating families, and promoting mental wellbeing to build safer, healthier spaces for all.
